Your Prostate Cancer.help is the vision and creation of Jan Manarite, a 24-year award-winning advocate and educator in the world of prostate cancer.
Jan’s husband, Dominic, was diagnosed with extensive bone mets, a PSA of 7,096, and a Gleason of 9, in the year 2000. He was 58 years old.
Jan became involved in his care very quickly, driven by the love for her family. She began reading medical records, researching online, talking to other advocates and experts, and found that she began to ask better questions. She was doing Shared Decision Making before she knew what it was. Dominic lived for 13 years. One day his medical oncologist told Jan that she was the reason he lived so long…
This is a cancer journey she never chose, but still embraces and feels compelled to pay forward to others. The simple phrase “Better questions will get you Better answers” sums up a lot of what Jan learned in her 13 years of research-based caregiving, and what she teaches to others. It is the essence of Shared Decision Making in a stressed medical system.
Most recently, Jan has built 9 free conferences around this concept, between 2017 and 2024 (with PCaI and Cancer ABCs) – The Next FREE Conference is Saturday, November 14th, 2026 in The Villages, FL!
